Iceland plays a small role in the first trailer released from the movie The Fifth Estate which premiers in October.
It’s the story of how WikiLeaks came about, with the script based on German activist Daniel Domscheit-Berg’s book, ‘Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous Website’.
The trailer contains a fraction of scenes involving the Baghdad video which was prepared and released in collaboration with people such as Kristinn Hrafnsson, now WikiLeaks spokesman, and activist Birgitta Jónsdóttir, now Pirate Party MP.
Icelandic bankers also get their fifteen seconds of fame in the trailer.
The film was partially shot in Iceland and stars British actor Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange. Birgitta Jónsdóttir, is played by Carice van Houten, known for her part as Melisandre in Game of Thrones, and amongst other actors in the film are Stanley Tucci and Laura Linney.
