A man has confessed to setting the fire that broke out yesterday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mbl reports.
Police arrested the man yesterday on suspicion after spotting him in CCTV footage from the night before the fire. In the video, the man is seen at a gas station, filling up a canister identical to the one found at the scene. The man confessed to smashing in a window of the church, throwing in the canister and igniting it.
The man is reported to have mental health issues and was brought to the appropriate psychiatric facilities after being questioned by police. He gave no motive for the arson.
One room of the church was badly damaged in the fire but fire-fighters managed to contain and extinguish it.
