Canadian playwright Nicolas Billon has penned a threatre production currently enjoying a run at the Factory Theatre in Toronto. And it’s titled “Iceland.”
While the play is not directly about the wheelings and dealings that took place in Iceland in the lead up to the 2008 economic collapse in a biographical sense, it finds inspiration in the affairs of Icelandic businessmen and bankers as it examines the greed, selfishness, and disdain for others that drives rampant capitalism, The Toronto Star reports.
The production tells the story of confrontation between a real estate agent and a tenant, against the backdrop of the banking crisis. Perhaps enamoured of the region, Billon had previously penned a well received play titled “Greenland” and debuted “The Faroe Islands” in February.
