The acclaimed director’s new documentary will include Iceland – in particular, its volcanoes – as it sets to premier next Friday.

RÚV reports that the documentary, Into The Inferno, will focus on volcanoes, and ways to reduce their destructive power. It is set to air on Netflix on October 28.

Iceland’s part in the documentary will include the legendary tale of Jón Steingrímsson, also known as “The Pastor of Fire”. Jón was an 18th century priest who recorded our most accurate account of the devastating Laki eruption of 1783. Jón also held a legendary “Fire Mass” during the eruption, at his parish church in Kirkjubælarklaustur, where he reportedly exhorted the congregation to pray to God one last time. Inexplicably, the lava stopped a mere 2 kilometres from the church.

Apart from being the creator of many critically-acclaimed films, Werner is also an actor known for his characteristic voice. This voice is almost an institution unto itself, and has been featured in numerous movies and television shows, including The Boondocks and Rick & Morty.
