Up to 500 free tickets to a concert this Friday are available to any nurses who arrive at Harpa to attend, and all they need provide is a work ID to gain entry.
Stundin reports that this Friday, Harpa will be hosting a concert in celebration of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in Iceland. Called “Höfundur óþekktur” (Author Unknown), admission will be free to those nurses who attend, who can receive up to two tickets each.
“Instead of inviting elected officials and public figures, who usually get free tickets to such events, we felt that one group in society deserved free tickets,” concert organiser Diljá Ámundadóttir told reporters. “In light of the events over the past few days, we felt this group was especially deserving of this offer.”
The concert itself will feature numerous male musicians performing songs by female songwriters. Among those taking part will be Bubbi Morthens, Friðrik Dór, Helgi Björns, Jón Jónsson and Páll Óskar, performing songs by Björk, Emiliana Torrini, Hafdís Huld, Lay Low, Mammút, Ragnheiður Gröndal, and Ólöf Arnalds, amongst others.
