A couple of black swans were spotted off the coast of Dyrhólaey in south Iceland yesterday by Gunnar Þór Gunnarsson with Árstíðarferðir Tour Company and a group of tourists, reports RÚV.

“I’ve never seen black swans before,” said Gunnar. “I heard about them on the news a few years ago though. I don’t think anyone else in the group had ever seen them either so that was really fun.”

The visitation of black swans is an extremely rare occurence in Iceland and the group was lucky enough to snap a few pictures.

It is not certain if or for how long the swans will remain in Iceland, best just to make them feel welcome while they’re around.
