The bowling alley in Öskjuhlíð will be closing as of March 1 and all the bowling alley’s employees have been laid off, reports Vísir.
As a result there will be only one bowling alley in the greater Reykjavík area, at the Egilshöll complex. The bowling alley’s party venue, Rúbín, will remain open for now.
The owners of the Öskuhlíð bowling alley, Rúnar Fjeldsted and Björk Sigurðardóttir intend to find some other use for the property which spans 1.3 hectares (the bowling alley takes up roughly 3000 square metres of that).
“Alongside these changes, the wife and I have been in talks with parties interested in taking over our operations in Egilshöll as well,” said Rúnar. “Those discussions have not concluded, they are progressing well but we can’t make any definitive announcements regarding that at this time.”
