Norwegian Hells Angel, Jan Anfinn Wahl, was arrested last night at Keflavík Airport for trying to enter the country to attend his hearing at the Reykjavík district court. The Icelandic chapter of Hells Angels was to receive him upon arrival, but Jan was not permitted entrance into Iceland, Vísir reports.
Jan is suing the Icelandic government for what he claims was a wrongful arrest and deportation after he and fellow Hells Angel, Leif Ivar Kristiansen, were arrested and deported from the country last February. He planned to attend his own hearing today.
Leif Ivar Kristiansen will not be present at the hearing against the state either; he was convicted on drugs violations and robbery charges last May and is serving a four year and nine month prison sentence.
According to Leif’s lawyer, Morten Furuholmen, the arrest and deportation of members of the Norway chapter of the Hells Angels was a violation of the European Free Trade Association agreement, of which both Iceland and Norway are members.
