Japanese industrial giant Mitusbishi is having informal talks with
municipal officials in the West Fjords over the possibility of becoming
involved in a fish processing plant.
Þorgeir Pálsson, chairman of the Employment Development Society of the West Fjords, has been having discussions with a representative of Mitsubishi, through an agent at the Icelandic embassy in Tokyo. Government officials in Iceland have been notified of the talks.
Japanese investors are showing more interest in Iceland. Currently a group of such investors looking to spend close to a one billion USD in the country will soon be meeting with Icelandic government officials.
