A collaborative effort over the next two weeks will culminate in an exhibition in Seyðisfjörður.
A press release from the organisers of the event tells the story:
Every year in February students from the graduation year of the fine arts department in the Icelandic Academy of Art move their work to Seyðisfjörður to participate in a two week course and put up an exhibition. The course is a collaboration between the school, the Dieter Roth Academy, Skaftfell and the Technical Museum of East Iceland.
In Seyðisfjörður the students get a 15 km long workspace which is approximately 150,000 times bigger than their workspace in the city, and the number of teachers increases by 700, as the residents of the town take students in with open arms and help them as much as they can.
In the end of the workshop, the exhibition Skáskegg á VHS + CD will open in Skaftfell on February 25 at 16:00, where the results of the stay will be revealed to the public.
The art students involved are Ásgrímur Þórhallsson, Ásta Fanney Sigurðardóttir, Claudia Hausfeld, Dóra Hrund Gísladóttir, Erik Hirt, Gudri Lape, Gunnar Jónsson, Halla Þórlaug Óskardóttir, Katla Stefánsdóttir, Katrín Erna Gunnarsdóttir, Sigman Þórðarson, Sigurður Þórir Ámundason, Steinunn Lilja Emilsdóttir and Viktor Pétur Hannesson, and is curated by Björn Roth.
The exhibition runs until May 6.
