The Organization of Disabled in Iceland (ODI) certified the Reykjavík city website accessible to people with disabilities on Wednesday. Blind, visually impaired, and people unable to utilise traditional web sites are now able to surf the city’s website with less difficulty.
Newly implemented guidelines include: easy to read text, alternative text on all images, video links and form buttons, and the option of viewing text in two different font sizes.
The certification also requires a commitment from the city to adhere to guidelines specified by the World Wide Web Committee and Web Accessibility Initiative. Visit the website here: www.reykjavik.is
