The IMF believes the time has come to review Iceland’s economic situation, which it currently views in a more favorable light.
Mark Flanagan, the IMF representative for Iceland, believes Iceland’s economic recovery is on the right track. Thus he believes the time has come for another review, with the possibility of another payment in mind.
Speaking before a conference on Icelandic-American business relations in New York, Flanagan said there are still some details that need to be worked out, but that Iceland’s economic progress warrants the IMF conducting another review of the country’s status as a whole. There are still some minor details left to clarify, he added.
An IMF review would need to be examined by politicians in Iceland before a decision is taken, which can take all of two weeks, RÚV reports.
