Alþingi approved amendments made to the British and Dutch proposed Icesave deal late Friday night, moving the agreement on to the third round of discussions by the economic committee. Fourty-nine of 63 MP’s voted in support of the recent changes that were made to the Icesave agreement, which included repayment being dependent on economic growth and halted repayment in the instance of economic growth ceasing.
The Citizen’s Movement was split on the amendments to the deal, the Progressive party was against them entirely and the Social democrats, Left-Greens and Independence Party were all in favour.
