Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a tour bus with 47 passengers tipped over on an icy road in national park Þingvellir on Tuesday.
The passengers were all foreign tourists on a guided tour. They were all wearing seatbelts which saved most of them from injuries.
One of the passengers, Mark Weller from England, took photos right after the accident. “You Icelanders are perhaps used to these sort of things but I’ve never seen anything like this,” he told Vísir.is.
He said the passengers were lucky not to have been seriously injured, saying the seat belts had made all the difference.
The passengers were tended to at the service centre in Þingvellir while they awaited another coach from the tour operator. Most of them carried on with the tour after the incident.
