Björk And Ómar Ragnarsson To Sing Duet

Artist Björk Guðmundsdóttir and journalist Ómar Ragnarsson intend to kick-off the upcoming karaoke marathon for the environment by singing a duet together.
As reported, a karaoke marathon will start tomorrow at 15:00 with the purpose of raising awareness of Iceland’s natural resources, and to get more signatures on a petition calling for said resources to be in public ownership. Entitled “The Voice of the People”, the event is hoping to be the largest karaoke event in Icelandic history, with the goal of getting another 15,000 signatures on the petition which can be found at orkuaudlindir.is.
To kick off the event, Björk and Ómar (himself no slouch when it comes to singing) will sing a duet, the artist told the Reykjavík Siðdegis radio programme.
“Anyone will be allowed to sing [at the event],” Björk said in part. “And we intend to sing our resources back.” She said that the event, which is open to the general public – amateur and professional alike – will have some 16,000 songs to choose from.
Some of the better known figures who intend to take part include Páll Óskar, Ólafur Stefánsson, Ragnhildur Gísladóttir, and Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson.
The event will be held at the Nordic House, starting tomorrow and lasting until 8 January.
