Progressive Party VP Says EU Talks Not On The Agenda

Published June 7, 2013

Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson, vice president of the Progressive Party told Bændablaðið that a referendum on whether membership talks with the European Union will continue is not currently on the government’s agenda.
According to Sigurður, the new Progressive-run government is evaluating whether the interests of the government and the populating at large are better served outside of the EU, RÚV reports. However he does not see how the situation in the EU would be a draw for Iceland to join the union.
