Sigga Ey highlights some ones to watch

Sigga Eyþórsdóttir is one of the three sisters that combine with producer Oculus to form Icelandic house troupe Sísý Ey. They shot to prominence via their earworm single Ain’t Got Nobody.

In 2013-14 they played Sónar festivals in Stockholm, Reykjavík and Barcelona, and with their internet fanbase thriving, they are preparing a debut album as we speak. As something of a Sónar veteran, we thought we’d ask them to guide us through the Sónar Reykjavík 2015 lineup – here are Sigga Ey’s picks.

Samaris
I love their sound. They combine two of my musical passions, Icelandic folk music and electronic music, and they manage to make it sound very cool. They have a unique sound and I think they will get far.

Futuregrapher
He is so fun to watch on stage. He makes it look so fun. He has a great passion for what he is doing I just love him. He is playing with Borko and Jon Olafs, I haven’t seen it or heard it before but I look forward to it.

Oculus
He is my favorite Icelandic DJ. He plays a live set – he doesn’t use any computers, and is a technical nerd. It’s very fun watching him play. He is an extremely talented musician and producer and I love his techno music.

Nina Kraviz
She is just super cool. I don’t necessarily like all her stuff but there’s something about her attitude and looks that fascinates me and I am definitely gonna see her.

Jimmy Edgar
I have not listened to him a lot but I like his sound and I have a soft spot for techno.
