The Teachers’ Strike is now on day five and according to the chairwoman of the Icelandic Teachers’ Union a resolution is still far off, reports RÚV.

“We are nowhere near being able to say that we are close to a deal,” said Aðalheiður Steingrímsdóttir, chairwoman of the Icelandic Teachers’ Union.

She added that she feels none of the major issues have been properly addressed during negotiations so far.

As reported, the Icelandic Teachers’ Union (KÍ) has said they are angry that they have even had to resort to a strike in the conflict, as their demands were simply to have their wages develop in conjunction with wages from comparable professions.
