Legendary musician and producer Nile Rodgers will be performing tonight at the Harpa concert hall.
RÚV spoke to Rodgers, who has most recently worked with French electronic act Daft Punk, but whose career spans back to the early 1970s.
“I have a lot of fun with this,” Rodgers told reporters. “I have the same energy that I did when I wrote my first hit, and I use that same energy when I go into the studio today.”
Rodgers founded the disco band Chic, whose singles included Rodger’s first hit, Le Freak. And this isn’t his first visit to Iceland.
“I first played in Iceland in 1973,” he said. “At the [NATO base]. At that time, I was only doing covers. But I always wanted to perform original songs. Now I’m back, 40 years later, and every single song I’m going to perform is mine. We could play for five hours if we wanted.”
