Iceland’s entry to the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, “Mundu eftir mér”, has been translated into English and will be performed in that language at the main ESC event in Baku, Azerbaijan, two months from now. In its English-language incarnation, the song is titled “Never Forget” and probably touches upon dramatic, yet universal, themes such as love, loss, betrayal, war, glaciers, death and elves (read the lyrics, below, to delve further into their meaning). To accompany the song’s fresh new English lyrics, a fitting video has been made, which you may watch here.
And here are the lyrics:
Never Forget
She’s singing softly in the night
Praying for the morning light
She dreams of how they used to be
At dawn they will be freeMemories they hold his mind
Save him from the endless nights
She whispers warm and tenderly
Please come back to meAnd when the golden sun arises far across the sea
The dawn will breae as darkness fades forever we´ll be freeNever forget what I did what I said
When I gave you all
My heart and soul
Morning will come and I know we‘ll be one
Because I still believe that you remember meShe mourns beneath the moonlit sky
Remembering when they said goodbye
Where is the one he used to know
It seems so long agoAnd when the golden sun arises
Far across the sea
The dawn will break as
Darkness fades forever we´ll be freeNever forget what I did what I said
When I gave you all
My heart and soul
Morning will come and I know we‘ll be one
Because I still believe that you remember meNever forget what I did what I said
When I gave you all
My heart and soul
Morning will come and I know we‘ll be one
Because I still believe that you remember me
