From Iceland — Icelanders Are Just Happy People

Icelanders Are Just Happy People

Market and Media Research has done another survey on the overall happiness of Icelanders, and the results show the country just as happy as always.
The poll, conducted from 13 to 19 August, asked Icelanders about their levels of happiness or unhappiness on a variety of aspects of life. As could be expected, people were happiest of all with their summer vacations, with 93.2% saying they were very pleased.
There were a couple of surprises, though. The weather in Iceland – a topic of conversation crucial to living in this country – during the summer received mostly high marks, with 66.4% saying they were happy with it. Also, most Icelanders were pleased with the move of beloved Icelandic comedy show Spaugstofan from the tax-paid television station RÚV to the subscription television station Stöð 2, with 60.9% saying they were pleased with the move.
89% of respondents said they were happy with their jobs, which perhaps isn’t surprising in a country where unemployment has been high. Reykjavík mayor Jón Gnarr might also be pleased to learn that 82.2% are happy with the job he’s doing.
