Steam has been spotted rising up to nine thousand feet—or three kilometres— from the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, reports Vísir.
According to the Icelandic Meteorological Office, there has been no sign of earthquakes or  volcanic activity as of yet; therefore, there has been no indication that the eruption will start again. The steam has been steadily increasing, but this may be a result of weather conditions rather than volcanic activity.
The steam has been spotted as far as Selfoss; one resident claiming to have seen steam rising as early as six in the morning. RÚV report that scientists from the Earth Sciences Department of the University of Iceland are currently flying over the glacier for further investigation.
