Valdimar

The band Valdimar was formed in 2009 by two long time friends. It was initially supposed to be a solo act, but now it’s a full fledged band counting 6 members. Their first album, ‘Undraland,’ was a surprise hit in Iceland in 2010 and 2011 and quite a few songs from the album became radio hits. In october 2012, their second album, ‘Um Stund,’ came to being and has been no less popular than Undraland, scoring high with the critics as well as the general public.
Valdimar are renowned for their live shows, delivering the power and beauty of their music so well that some say they sound better live than on tape.
The genre can be described as an electro indie mix with roots in Americana, even though fans find defining the genre of Valdimar simply irrelevant.
‘Um Stund’ was voted the second best album of the year by staff and listeners of Rás 2 (Icelandic National Radio) and the band was nominated for best album, best songwriting and best singer at this year’s Icelandic Music Awards.
