With elections only days away, it appears that most Icelanders have made up their minds already on who they intend to vote for.
As reported, the two front-runners in the race are incumbent Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson and broadcast journalist Þóra Arnórsdóttir. The two are currently polling at 44.8% and 37%, respectively, according to Capacent.
Meanwhile, Ari Trausti Guðmundsson and Herdís Þorgeirsdóttir have seen a slight rise in support, of about 1% each, from last month. They stand now at 10.5% and 5.3% respectively.
In a poll conducted by DV, the vast majority of respondents – 84.5% – said they have already decided who they are going to vote for, while 11.7% remain undecided. Another 4% said they did not intend to vote.
This 11.7% could make the race go either way for Ólafur and Þóra – or simply go to one or more of the other contenders. Regardless, the current polls make this still too soon to tell who will end up Iceland’s next president.
