When we think hip hop, we think Kendrick Lamar, Air Jordans and the Stocksund faux leather sofa from IKEA. That is why we were ecstatic when we heard about the newest line from Icelandic hip-hop fashion pioneers INKLAWmade out of the infamous blue IKEA bag.

The collab IKEA X INKLAW, which is designed by Guðjón Geirsson, features jumpers, jackets and sweatpants with bags of style.

The internet recently lost it’s shit when fashion giant Balenciaga released a bag that looked shockingly similar to the blue and yellow one we all know and own.

“When Balenciaga made that bag, this huge IKEA hype started in the fashion world. People started making things from those blue IKEA bags like masks, underwear, and much more,” INKLAW designer Anton Sigfússon told the Iceland Monitor.

Plastic pants seemed somewhat impractical, so INKLAW embraced the hype to make wearable pieces. Waste not, want not, IKEA Iceland were surprisingly cooperative in supporting the brand’s vision.

“We knew it would be much cooler if we actually got IKEA Iceland to cooperate, which is probably a first. Fifteen minutes after we sent them an email, they replied with a “yes,” explains Anton.

And where better to model the merch than the showroom? “We snuck into IKEA after the opening hours to shoot some videos of the collection,” said Anton.

While the pieces scream meme, they’re undeniably cool AF and trailblazers have already snapped up the very limited supply. Check out the collab at https://www.inklawclothing.com/collections/inklaw-x-ikea.
