From Iceland — Police To Investigate Playschool

Police To Investigate Playschool

Published August 23, 2013

Reykjavík authorities have asked the police to investigate child abuse charges at a city play school.
As reported, two former employees of 101 Playschool told reporters earlier this week that they had video evidence of other employees physically abusing children.
In the wake of the accusations, two other employees were put on leave, while the school itself closed following an emergency meeting with parents.
Vísir now reports that the Child Protection Committee for the city of Reykjavík has seen the video footage, and requested that the police investigate. Halldóra Dröfn Gunnarsdóttir, chairperson of the committee, told reporters that the parents of the children in the video have been alerted, and will view the footage today.
