OK it’s official, footballer Aron Jóhannsson is now a player for Team USA and can never, ever play for Iceland again.
Having caused quite a stir by his decision to play for the US rather than Iceland, the 22 year old striker was quickly called-up by Team USA manager, and football legend, Jürgen Klinsmann and asked to play for the US national team against Bosnia-Herzegovina in last night’s friendly match in Sarajevo.
Aron came in on 63rd minute, as a replacement for striker Eddie Johnson, and finished the match which Team USA won 4-3, RÚV reports.
According to FIFA rules, once a footballer has participated in a match with the A national team of one country, he can never play for another national team, despite having dual nationality like Aron.
So, adieu Aron, may you score many goals and prosper! Too bad, KSÍ!
