If April showers bring May flowers, what exactly will Reykjavík’s April windstorms bring? We don’t know, but you can hide from the weather at one of these not-to-miss events this weekend, featuring rapper Cell7, a documentary on Vivian Maier, and Narfi’s new exhibit.

You can’t talk about Icelandic hip hop without mentioning Cell7. One of the OG rappers in the country, the woman has finally returned from the rap-grave with a new album entitled ‘Is Anyone Listening?’ First off, yes Queen, we are listening. Second off, you don’t know when the rappess will return subterranean, so grab this opportunity while you can. R’n’b goddess GDRN will open. Tickets will be 3,000 ISK at the door, but you can get ’em online for 2,000 ISK here

Photography Matinee: ‘Finding Vivian Maier’ Screening

Imagine finding a suitcase in a storage unit containing 150,000 negatives. These treasures unravelled the secret life of street photographer Vivian Dorothy Maier, a nanny who secretly photographed the world, the good and the ugly. Get ready to be inspired. For the hearing impaired, the movie will have English subtitles. 

Sunday, April 14th

Journey back to 2014 into an unnamed office on Laugavegur. There, Narfi picked up a ballpoint pen and began drawing patterns, which eventually became this exhibition. Some are large, some small, some logical, some purely chaotic.
