Happening This Weekend: Our Picks!

The sun is out and it is shining. Celebrate the beginning of spring with these not-to-miss weekend events.

Endless Dark: The Farewell Show
21:00, Húrra

As Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman would say, it’s time to say goodbye. Yes, Endless Dark is entering the ether and we are devastated. But you can catch them one last time at this special show. For those unfamiliar with the legends, Endless Dark’s musical style is called “post-hardcore”. It’s a mixture of really heavy breakdowns with really poppy choruses. Their live performance includes a lot of “headbanging”, where the band climbs stuff and jumps and shakes their head and looks angry. They are joined by Emmsjé Gauti and We Made God.

Reykjavík Goth Night: Free DJ Night Sponsored By WOW Air!
21:00, Gaukurinn, Free!

Sometimes it gets boring watching ‘The Crow’ alone in your basement. Sometimes you lose your page in ‘The Vampire Lestat.’ Sometimes you scratch your Bauhaus record and then it goes “Bela Lugosi’s d-d-d-d-dead.” Your blacks don’t match. You rip your fishnets. You lose your Manic Panic Nosferatu lipstick. You mispronounce Siouxsie Sioux. Your new boyfriend doesn’t even understand nihilism and you just remembered that Peter Steele is dead. Yes, we’ve all been there. So grab your copy of that Playgirl issue Peter Steele is in and come reminisce about all those problems that only fellow creatures of the dark would understand at Reykjavík Goth Night. This iteration was supposed to feature Amelia Arsenic and Relic, but unfortunately WOW went bankrupt so they can’t come. Never fear though, the goths have an incredible union and WOW agreed to sponsor goth night with a free DJ night. Get ready for a little WOW factor and don’t forget: Always dress to depress.

Sunday, April 7th
Art Market!
12:00, Kex Hostel, Free!

Love markets? Love art? Then you should probably go to this art market at Kex. If you don’t love art, go anyway and educate your uncultured self. Reykjavík is known for its world-class artists so come explore the best of the up-and-comers. We all need more ceramics.
