A tour guide who has been at the location for over 20 years took a video of ice practically clogging Jökulsárlón yesterday.
Vísir reports that Owen Hunt, who has been a tour guide at Jökulsárlón since 1984, told reporters that he had never seen as much ice being washed out to sea as he saw yesterday. To mark the occasion, he recorded the event on video, which you can see below:
Jökulsárlon is typically best known for being home to brilliant blue water dotted with dazzling white chunks of ice, and is a popular spot for tourists to visit. If you do visit the place, though, please do not be like these people and literally stand on the ice being washed towards the sea. Rescue efforts are expensive.
