Iceland’s capital has the cheapest beer of any Nordic capital, and its price ranks just above the median worldwide.
According to GoEuro’s Beer Index, Reykjavík ranks 39th out of out of 75 cities around the world in terms of where the cheapest beer can be found. The average 33cl Reykjavík beer costs about 200 ISK from the store, and 650 ISK from the bar (or $1.53 and $4.95 USD, respectively).
On average, Reykjavík residents each drink 82 litres of beer per year, at a cost of 105,000 ISK per person.
The cheapest ranked beer on the index was in Krakow, Poland, where 33cl of beer costs 81 ISK from the store or 350 ISK from a bar. By contrast, the most expensive beer can be found in Genf, Switzerland, where a beer at the beer will run you 1,400 ISK.
Incidentally, Egyptians in Cairo spend the least on beer, letting go of only 3,000 ISK per year on the product, while the Finns spend an average of 203,000 ISK on beer each year, topping the list.
