Prime Minister, Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, participated in a small relay while visiting Hamraskóli in Reykjavík and did so wearing one dress shoe and one running shoe, reports Vísir.

The relay was a part of a children’s sports event arranged by Lífshlaupið, a sports organisation by the Olympic and Sports Association of Iceland.

The Prime Minister can be seen in a video posted by Lífshlaupið kicking off the relay and competing with the Minister for Education, Illugi Gunnarsson.

As reported, pictures of Sigmundur Davíð wearing one leather dress shoe and one black Nike running shoe to an official meeting with US President Barack Obama made its rounds on the internet back in 2013. Unfortunately, the Prime Minister was forced to wear the running shoe because of a fungal infection that meant his foot was too swollen to fit into a dress shoe.

This time however, the Prime Minister wore mismatched shoes for fun.

“No [fungal infection] issues this time around,” said an assistant to the prime minister, Jóhannes Þór Skúlason. “This was just for fun and a strategic move to get ahead of the Minister for Education.”
