Due to an incoming storm Icelandair cancelled or rescheduled 28 flights for yesterday and today, to and from Europe and the U.S, reports RÚV.
Icelandair communications manager Guðjón Arngrímsson, told RÚV the weather predicted conditions disruptive for air travel including extreme winds and heavy rainfall. Guðjón also said that he felt that there had been quite a few instances in the winter so far where weather played a role in delays or cancellations.
Birgir Jónsson, chief operating officer at WOW Air confirmed that two flights to Paris and London this morning will be delayed but that any further rescheduling or cancellations would be subject to weather conditions.
The Met Office warned of a storm in the South-West of Iceland in the early hours of this morning. There will be low visibility and harsh winds of up to 20-25 metres per second. The storm should clear up this afternoon.
