Capital area police are seeking help from the public in getting to the bottom of a vicious attack on a six-year-old boy, who was reportedly hospitalised after being severely beaten by four teenaged boys.
Vísir reports that football coach Þórarinn Engilbertsson was passing by a pitch in Breiðhólt yesteday when he heard screams. Running to investigate, he witnessed four boys aged around 12 or 13 beating a small child. The boys immediately ran for it when Þórarinn came after them, and he reportedly caught one of the boys. When asked to explain the attack, the boy said they wanted the football the child was playing with. The boy was taken to his parents’ house.
The child, a six-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital, where his injuries were assessed. While badly beaten and with some tendon injuries, he has no broken bones and will survive.
Things took a turn for the worse for the police, though. The matter was never reported to the police, DV reports, and in fact the police learned about the matter through news stories. They are now seeking any information that will lead to the parents of the boys who took part in the attack, or the parents of the victim.
Those with any information that could help the police on this matter are asked to call 444-1000.
