Members of the recently victorious Berlin Pirate Party are giving a lecture at Reykjavík University today to introduce LiquidFeedback, a system of Democratic voting, which The Party uses to make its internal decisions.
Given that direct democracy is not scalable, The Pirate Party have created a system that combines direct democracy with elements of representative democracy. Having used it successfully for two years, The Party believes that it could be implemented in Iceland on a greater scale.
They have thus far discussed it with representatives from The Best Party and Better Reykjavík, and will lecture to the public at Reykjavík University in room v103 at 16:00 today.
Additionally, The Berlin Pirate Party are in Reykjavík to discuss the Icelandic Modern Media Initiative, which they had hoped would be further along, and to connect with The Best Party, due to obvious similarities.
In fact, representatives from The Berlin Pirate Party and The Best Party—who clearly share a sense of humour—met at Höfði house yesterday for a very official signing of “A Declaration of Nothing.”
After sitting around for an hour discussing nothing, they signed a declaration at the very same table that Reagan and Gorbachev sat at, effectively accomplishing nothing.
