The Best Party is currently polling at 37%, which not only maintains their status as the largest party in city hall – it would also give them an extra councilperson if elections were held today.
Vísir reports that, according to a poll conducted by Gallup between September 12 and October 13, 37% of respondents said they would vote for the Best Party if municipal elections were held today. This would take them from six out of 15 possible city council seats to seven.
At the same time, their current partners in the city council majority – the Social Democrats – are polling at 15%, which would take them from three seats to two. The number of seats held by the coalition would therefore remain the same.
Little changed regarding the other parties currently in city council. The Independence Party polled at 31%, holding them steady at 5 city council seats, while the Left-Greens are at 10%, comprising the final seat. The Progressive Party would likely not return to city council in the spring – they polled at only 4%, which would leave them without a seat in city council if elections were held today.
