The readers of The Guardian have picked the geothermal, outdoor pool Seljavallalaug one of the 10 best swimming pools in the world. And no wonder as it’s pretty spectacular.
Built in 1923 it’s the oldest swimming pool in Iceland and has recently survived massive ash fall from Eyjafjallajökul, because it’s located right at the glacier’s foot. In fact, you need to hike into the bottom af a valley to reach the pool but once there you never want to leave.
