Icelandic runner Óskar Jakobsson is just 60 kilometers away from his destination after setting out on 31 May to run from Reykjavík to Ísafjörður over the course of 10 days, RÚV reports.
The 450 km undertaking is being attempted to benefit the ‘Run Home’ fund, which Óskar established to raise money for critically ill children, as well as Neistinn, a fund to benefit children with heart defects. The endeavor was first inspired by Óskar’s young friend Finnbogi Örn Rúnarsson, an 11-year-old boy from Ísafjörður who underwent heart surgery in Sweden last year and has had a very long and difficult recovery.
After running the equivalent of more than a full marathon daily for 10 days, Óskar will arrive in Ísafjörður on Saturday.
