Six new domestic case of the coronavirus were detected yesterday, according to the latest data from covid.is. All but one of them were in quarantine at the time of diagnosis. Chief epidemiologist Þórólfur Guðnason said today that this person outside quarantine attended a group trip to the Geldingadalsgos eruption, and reminded people to observe safe distances between other people and other pandemic guidelines when in large groups such as this.
No person is currently hospitalised with the virus. 1,279 people are currently in quarantine, with another 95 in isolation. The 14-day incidence of infection per 100,000 people is now 10.9, up from 9.3 yesterday, while incidence at border screening is now at 13.4, dowm from 13.9 yesterday.
20,733 people have so far been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. Note that “fully vaccinated” means at least two weeks have passed since receiving both vaccinations. 18,900 vaccinations are underway. 39,633 people have received at least the first dose, while 60,366 have received both shots.
