Forget wellies and cramped tents – this year we’re enjoying festival season from the comfort of the sofa. Ever-enchanting Icelandic songstress, JFDR, will be taking centre stage this weekend in a free virtual festival, Action All Areas, organised by Greenpeace.
We’re long-time JFDR fans here at the Grapevine. Earlier this year she released a haunting new album, New Dreams. The recording radiates an understated power, pairing naive but graceful vocals with hyper-poetic lyrics.
Greenpeace would normally be preparing for a summer of festival collaborations, but in the light of the coronavirus pandemic, the organisation has decided to bring their environmental message to music-lovers via the internet. Alongside a star-studded line-up of performers and DJs, they’ll be encouraging attendees to take action with Greenpeace and they’ll be hosting a series of cooking shows encouraging ‘better’ eating for yourself and the planet.
JFDR will be performing at 17:55 on Saturday June 20th, all you need to do is head on over to actionallareas.org.
Note: Due to the effect the Coronavirus is having on tourism in Iceland, it’s become increasingly difficult for the Grapevine to survive. If you enjoy our content and want to help the Grapevine’s journalists do things like eat and pay rent, please consider joining our High Five Club.
