Monday, January 14th
Until February 15th, Nordic House
In this new exhibit, come experience embroidery on the painted canvas. Ingunn Vestby photographs plants, plankton, flowers, and leaves in such fine detail that they take on the appearance of carpets and textiles—a crossover between natural and manmade art. The Nordic House is open everyday from 11:00 to 17:00 and Wednesdays from 11:00 to 21:00.
Tuesday, January 15th

The New York Times called it, “One of the greatest athletic feats of any kind ever.” The New Yorker said, “Another passage can be written in the annals of human achievement.” Both were referring to Alex Honnold and his quest to become the first man to free solo climb the famed granite wall of El Capitan in Yosemite, which you can now see documented in this special film. For non-climbers, free solo means no ropes, harnesses, or other equipment. Basically, it’s absurdly hard. Tickets are 1,600 ISK but the inspiration is priceless.
Wednesday, January 16th
Until March 31st – Gerðarsafn Kópavogur Art Museum
A number of international and Icelandic artists, including Ange Leccia, Dodda Maggý, Sigurður Guðjónsson, and Steina and Woody Vasulka, present a tête-à-tête on the parallel histories of modern art, contemporary art and cinema, all within the context of music—or, more specifically, noise. Within the spacious rooms of Gerðarsafn, they’ve created complex sound installations that’ll lure you into abstract tonal worlds, which are then abruptly interrupted by a whisper, a scream, or even a song. Along with that is a collection of films from the Centre National Des Arts Plastiques, which will challenge your view on the interconnectivity of these mediums even further. Don’t miss your chance to see it here, but if you can’t, the Gerðarsafn Kópavogur Art Museum is open everyday except Monday from 11:00 to 17:00.

Everyone knows that humour is the best way to tackle serious topics. Come laugh with performers who have Tourette Syndrome and Schizophrenia but make light of their peculiarities to raise awareness about their disorders/syndromes and normalise them. At the end of every show, they take questions from the audience. So, if there is anything about disorders and syndromes that you’ve been dying to know, this is your chance.
