Two of Iceland’s musical greats have teamed up for a song and an amazing video.

Gyða Valtýsdóttir, better known as GYÐA, and Jónsi (who himself has recently announced a new album) have gifted music lovers with ‘Evol Lamina’, a song with an intriguing origin story and a lush video.

“The song was created by Jónsi, shaped & woven out of vocal- & cello improvisations that I did in his home in LA,” a statement to the press from GYÐA reads in part. “It’s energy that dances on the edges, flirting with boundaries. I love edges, the fine line between meanings & interpretations, where categorization becomes unclear or impossible.”

GYÐA’s costume in the video is by Rui Zhou, and GYÐA was happy to procure it as “It looks so fragile, made with such attentive touch & still so strong. I loved how it made me feel both naked & vulnerable as well as more embodied, fluid & forceful.”
