Evening darkness comes creeping back into Iceland as August draws to a close, and this week’s weather certainly reflects the approach of autumn.

According to the latest forecast from the Icelandic Met Office, most of the country can expect showers this week, although temperatures and wind speeds should remain fairly mild.

The east of the country may see slightly less rainfall, or even partly cloudy skies, both today and tomorrow. As the weekend approaches, clearer skies will make their way to south-central Iceland by Friday afternoon.

Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies should return to the greater Reykjavík area by Saturday afternoon, with cloudy skies but little rain for the rest of the country. Sunday, true to its name, will by mostly sunny for much of the country, with the exception of possible clouds in the north.

Before hitting the road, always make sure to check both weather and road conditions to ensure a safe and pleasant journey.
