Saturday marks annual Culture Night Festival in Reykjavík. The streets downtown will be closed for traffic and instead they will be crowded with people enjoying performances and events of all kinds in the streets, in galleries, bars and even alleyways.
The day starts early with The Reykjavík Marathon while the rest of the program starts around noon. In honour of the city’s 230th anniversary there will be an exhibition at the historic Grjótaþorp west of Ingólfstorg. At 5pm there’s a big barbecue and a concert in the Hljómskálagarður park.
In the evening there will be a huge outdoors concert at Arnarhóll and the festivities end with a sensational fireworks show by Harpa concert hall. Don’t miss it!
Culture Night aims to bring all kinds of arts together and asks for everyone to take part. Go check out the full program, all events are free!
Good to know: Many streets will be closed but the buses will be free all day! Find the bus schedule here.
