Culture Night Is Here: “Grjótaþorp – In the Heart of Reykjavík”

Published August 19, 2016

In celebration of culture night and the city of Reykjavík’s 230th birthday, the mayor will launch Reykjavík’s night of culture in one of the city’s oldest locations, Álfasteinsgarður in Grjótaþorp from 11:30am to 2:30pm. Accompanied by the German brass band Verbandsjugendorchester Hochrhein, mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson and guests will walk through Mjóstræti and towards the restaurant Stofan. On the way, guests might notice peculiar installations in some of the windows. The photography exhibition ‘Grjótaþorp-Hjarta Reykjavíkur’, exhibited at Stofan, features works by photographer Jóna Þorvaldsdóttir, created over the past five years with an old photography technique.

‘Grjótaþorp – In the Heart of Reykjavík’ is taking place at Álfasteinsgarður and Stofan on August 20. Admission is free! Check out the programme here!
