The body of a woman found in Reykjavík harbour last Tuesday has been identified, police confirm. They do not suspect foul play was involved in her death.
The woman in question was found around 9:00 Tuesday morning, Vísir reports, near the Sun Voyager sculpture at Reykjavík harbour. It is believed she died less than 24 hours before being found. While the police bulletin about the death does not publicly identify her, she is reported to have been living in Iceland.
Hotels in particular had been asked to take part in helping to identify her, as police had strong suspicions the deceased was a tourist. She was described as being about 165cm tall, weighing about 80kg, with short blonde hair. Other identifying characteristics include a gold bracelet on her left wrist, as well as a scar on both the top of her right foot and on her left knee.
The police offer their thanks for the assistance given by the general public, but have not as yet disclosed her identity.
