Not even the president of Iceland is above joining in the growing national past-time of parking badly.
The Icelandic Facebook group “The Worst Parked Car” has been a Grapevine favourite for some time. They have previously drawn attention to the owner of a Range Rover who appears to habitually park in disabled spaces, on pavement and even on crosswalks. Today, however, that Range Rover driver may have been outdone.
Icelander Óðinn Snær submitted his own photos to the group, which shows the private car of Icelandic president Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson at Melaskóli primary school yesterday. As can be seen, the unattended car is parked illegally, while boxing in at least two other cars on Hagamelur.
According to Óðinn Snær, the president was visiting the school to present them with an award. The reactions of Icelanders in the photo thread are less than pleased.
The president has not commented on the parking job at the time of this writing.
