Reykjavík mayor Jón Gnarr will formally announce whether or not he will run for re-election this coming Halloween.
As reported, Gnarr has been mulling over whether or not to run for mayor this coming spring, when municipal elections are held. When asking the general public for their input, the response was overwhelmingly positive.
Vísir now reports that the mayor has made a decision: he will announce whether or not he will run this coming Halloween (October 31).
Gnarr says he is giving the matter “serious consideration”. When asked what he thought of the idea of joining a potential leftist alliance, Gnarr replied, “We [the Best Party] want first and foremost to serve the residents of this city, and work towards the progress, health and future of this city.” The Best Party has refused to define themselves in terms of left or right in the past.
