MP Birgitta Jónsdóttir will be traveling to the United States on Wednesday to take part in an event marking the third anniversary of a video released on Wikileaks showing the gunning down of civilians in Iraq.
This will be Birgitta’s first time on US soil in nearly three years, DV.is reports. Over the past three years Birgitta’s involvement with Wikileaks has seen her running afoul of the Americans, with the US government subpoenaing the MP’s tweets from Twitter.
Of her impending trip to the US Birgitta has said “This will be a remarkable journey, and I hope that I will return next week. If I don’t come home, I trust that my absence will not go unnoticed and that people at home will speak up.”
