A group of American investors intend to brew beer in Iceland for export.
Pressan reports that the as-yet unnamed group of investors have reached out to the Vífilfell brewery in Akureyri, most famously known for Víking, Thule and Carlsberg beer, for help in the project.
Unnsteinn Jensson, the director of Vífilfell, said of the project, “It’s a new and exciting development that Americans want to make use of our production capacity.”
The beer, which will be called Einstök (“Special”), will be brewed in Iceland and exported to the US and the UK. It is expected that the first batch will be ready for export next month.
Einstök will be available as both a light and dark beer, and will focus primarily on the “specialty brews” market.
